Brea Olinda High School

History:
In 1968 Brea-Olinda High School hosted the first Brea-Olinda Holiday Classic wrestling tournament.  The tournament started out small at that time but grew in size and stature over the years.
In 1999 the tournament was renamed as the Ed Spring - Holiday Classic, in honor of Ed Spring, a long time BOHS wrestling supporter.

Ed Spring was born in Oklahoma during the Great Depression era.  Ed left Oklahoma in the 1950's and moved to Brea, California with his family.  Although Ed did not have sons in wrestling he had a great passion for the sport and became a great fan and financial supporter of Brea-Olinda wrestling. Ed's grandson, Tony Blanco, wrestled for BOHS and graduated in 2007.

In 2003 Brea-Olinda High School partnered with El Modena High School on the tournament and the tournament became known as the Ed Spring-Mann Holiday Classic.  In 2006 Brea-Olinda High School again became the sole host of the tournament and the tournament's name reverted back to the Ed Spring - Holiday Classic.

Over the years the Ed Spring - Holiday Classic has become one of the longest running, largest and most prestigious wrestling tournaments in California; hosting as many as 48 wrestling teams with schools coming from all over the state of California and out of state as far away as Oregon, Nevada, Arizona, Utah and Washington State. This year the 55th Annual Ed Spring - Holiday Classic will host over 40 teams, double elimination.

It is our goal to continue to run the best tournament for the athletes, coaches, officials and spectators and to honor the sport that Ed Spring loved so much.
